Looking ahead together: reflecting on 2025 and what's next for MX

As 2025 draws to a close, it feels like an appropriate moment to reflect on the year just gone and, more importantly, to look ahead to what we are building at MX.

It has been another demanding year for the market. Brokers continue to face increasing complexity, tighter competition, evolving regulation and heightened expectations from clients. Against that backdrop, our focus at MX has remained consistent: to be a reliable, specialist partner that brokers can depend on, both now and for the long term.

Staying close to our broker partners

One of the highlights of 2025 has been the opportunity to spend time with brokers across the market. Events such as the MGAA Broker Exchange, MOVO Partnerships Conference, BIBA and MX Central have given us valuable space to listen, challenge our thinking and ensure our proposition continues to reflect the realities brokers are dealing with day to day.

Those conversations play a vital role in shaping how we evolve, not just in terms of products and capacity, but in how we support distribution and make MX easy to do business with.

Strengthening distribution and capability

Throughout 2025, we have continued to strengthen our UK Property & Casualty (P&C) distribution capability, moving towards a genuinely nationwide offering. This remains a key strategic priority as we head into 2026, alongside further investment in broker development to ensure our teams are well positioned to support growth in a meaningful and sustainable way.

We have also taken positive steps into Northern Ireland, which aligns naturally with the opportunities we see alongside MX Underwriting Europe and supports a more joined-up approach to servicing brokers operating across multiple regions.

Crucially, all of this growth continues to be underpinned by stable, long-term capacity relationships where available. In a market where consistency is increasingly valued, we remain committed to working with partners who share our long-term outlook and support disciplined underwriting.

Focused SME propositions

Across our core SME lines, we have continued to build propositions designed to support brokers in complex and specialist areas:

• In P&C, our emphasis has been on underwriting clarity, relevance and responsiveness.

• Within Motor, we continue to support brokers placing challenging risks with confidence.

• Motorsport remains a specialist area where experience and long-standing relationships make a tangible difference.

• In Medical Malpractice, our specialist-led approach continues to support brokers navigating an increasingly complex and regulated environment.

These are not short-term plays, but areas where we see sustained demand for specialist underwriting and long-term broker partnerships.

Investing in people

At MX, we firmly believe that strong underwriting businesses are built by people. During 2025, we have continued to invest in our teams, and I am particularly pleased to recognise the promotions of Stuart Gee to Claims Director and Jamie Kelly to Head of Commercial Property. Their progression reflects both their individual contribution and our wider commitment to developing talent from within the business.

Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond

As we move into 2026, our direction is clear. We intend to continue to widen our P&C footprint, including an increased focus on the South West of the UK, deepen our SME propositions across key lines, and invest further in distribution, underwriting expertise and long-term partnerships.

Above all, our priority remains the same: to be consistent, approachable and genuinely supportive of our broker partners and their client relationships.
